In order for us to provide you with a tourist visa on arrival (at
the airport or at any of the land borders with Tunisia and Egypt), all we need
is a scanned copy of your passport's bio page and a list of the sites you intend
to visit. We can complete the whole visa process without the need to visit
the Libyan embassy.
Visa requirements
A scanned copy of your passport's bio data page (the page with your photo).
A list of the sites you intend to visit during your stay in Libya.
Your profession.
Passport Validity
The passport must be valid for at least six months when you leave Libya.
The passport does not have an Israeli stamp.
The passport must contain at least two blank pages.
Visa application process
Step 1: send us the required documents via email
(see requirements, below). The scanned passport bio page can be attached to your
email as a "jpg" or a "pdf" file.
Step 2: we will use
these documents to apply for the "Visa
Approval" from the immigration department. This usually takes
48 hours, but in some cases the process may take up to ten days to complete.
This approval is also known as "visa
reference number" or "visa authorisation number".
Step 3: finally, we will use the visa approval
to obtain the actual visa stamp on arrival, or we can send you a copy to take
to the Libyan embassy if you intend to secure the visa stamp before
departing your country. Please note that if you go for this option the embassy
staff will ask you to complete an application form and provide
photos (see below for more details). No application form is required for visa
on arrival.
Important note: please note that most airliners need
to see a copy of the visa approval (or the visa stamp) before they let
you board the plane. We will send you a copy of the visa approval if you will
be coming by plane. Visitors arriving via land borders do not require to have
a copy of the approval in advance, as the operator's agent will be present
on arrival to complete the entry formalities for you.
A copy of tourist visa approval.
Only the original document is valid to use
at the point of entry.
Validity of tourist visa
Tourist visa is usually valid for 45 days beginning from the date of issue
(if obtained from the embassy). The validity of the approval for visas on arrival
is 30 days (see above copy). In both cases the holder is allowed to stay in Libya
for one month (30 days).
Who can apply for tourist visa?
Most Europeans, including Eastern Europeans, most South Americans, Australians,
Russians, Japanese, New Zealanders, South Africans, Canadians and Americans can
all apply directly to us for tourist visa on arrival. Other nationals may need
to contact the embassy for further details.
Applying for tourist visa via the Libyan embassy
